Head Mistress: R.C. Smith Academy was founded by Mrs. Renata Clyburn. Renata Clyburn is a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University where she received a B.A. in English. To pursue her life-long goal as an educational business owner she attended Gardner-Webb University where she received her M.A. in School Administration. She has successfully continued to pursue her dream by starting a Summer Camp and Private Middle School. She has experience as a school administrator, teacher, and academic facilitator. Renata has worked within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System for a decade, and enthusiastically contributed her knowledge to educational programming and curriculum development to maximize student learning. Renata’s philosophy is that all students can learn given a positive learning environment that welcomes exploration and enhances student confidence. With experience in new program initiatives, staff development, and promoting a safe environment, she has a proven track record for exceeding faculty goals through effective communication and a firm commitment to student-centered learning.
